FLAC, Opus and Ogg album art thumbnails in Windows Explorer
SageThumbs 2K shows the album art embedded in your music files as their thumbnails in File Explorer, including Ogg, Opus and APE files whose art Windows does not show. Uncompressed WAV and AIFF files without art get a drawn waveform.

What you see
- Cover art is read from FLAC, MP3, Ogg, Opus, Speex, M4A, AAC, WMA, APE, WavPack, Musepack and DSF files.
- WMA covers and tags are read by SageThumbs' own parser.
- Raw-PCM WAV, AIFF and AIFF-C files with no cover art show a drawn waveform.
- Long audiobooks are not read whole; the preview pane seeks straight to the embedded art.
- For audio formats Windows cannot read, the Details pane fills in length, bitrate, artist, album, title, track, genre and year.
Limits
- A file with no embedded cover shows no artwork, apart from the waveform for uncompressed WAV and AIFF.
- In OneDrive and other synced folders, files stored on the PC get thumbnails as anywhere else. Online-only files are left to the cloud app, since nothing is downloaded just to draw a thumbnail.
More you can do
- Press Space to play a track in Quick preview, with its cover as the backdrop.
- Rename by artist and title, or track and title, straight from the tags, and Sort into folders by audio tag with a folder template such as
$artist - $album.

Thumbnails not showing?
- Windows caches thumbnails, and a file it failed on once stays failed. In SageThumbs, Settings ▸ Advanced ▸ Rebuild thumbnail cache clears the cache and restarts Explorer.
- Make sure File Explorer's "Always show icons, never thumbnails" option is off, and that the format is ticked in SageThumbs Settings ▸ File types.
- Run
st2k doctorin a terminal. It only reads, checks the whole chain, and prints a fix under anything that is wrong.
